FUN DAY – 10TH MAY, 2011
Again we were lucky enough to have perfect weather for our Regional Fun Day, where 50 riders showed their skill at Handy Pony competitions, gymkhana games and lead-rein dressage tests.
As well as these fun events we also held our Regional Qualifier for the Countryside Challenge Competition. The standard of riding was, as usual, very high and the riders who came 1st and 2nd in each class have qualified to compete at the RDA National Championships at Hartpury College in July.
Some of the competitors in the Regional Qualifier also took part in the Regional Combined Competition which includes a lead-rein dressage test and the overall winner of this was Chloe Rees-Jones of Court Meadow Group with a combined score of 80.5%. Well done Chloe!
Leatherhead Group again won the Fancy Dress Competition (A song title theme) with a marvelous entry called ‘Nelly the Elephant’, where all their riders were dressed up in elephant heads with long trunks worn over their riding hats. Arundel Group with ‘Little China Girl’ came second.
At the end of the day all the riders went home with their arms covered in rosettes and full of ice cream.
