RDA SOUTH EAST REGIONAL DRESSAGE COMPETITION

HICKSTEAD 8 JUNE 2011

Over 60 riders representing RDA Groups from across Kent, Surrey and Sussex converged on Hickstead on 8th June for their annual Regional Dressage Competition.

Amongst the sunshine and showers, riders of all abilities showed the judges just what they can do. With classes ranging from those who need to have a leader and sidewalkers right through to those more able, there was a wide range of classes to view.

Some of the classes were qualifiers for the RDA’s National Championships that takes place in July at Hartpury and this year there were twelve qualifiers and our congratulations go to them.

This year’s Highest Qualifier Trophy went to Leonora Hussey of the Epsom Group, and the Trophy for the Highest Non-Qualifier went jointly to Joe Roud of Pebsham 1066 and Harry Dale of Hope in the Valley.
The event is one of the highlights of the year for the RDA riders, giving them an opportunity to compete against others and show their parents, schools and carers, just what they can achieve. It is also a social gathering when they can meet and encourage each other.

This event could only happen with the immense amount of work put in by the RDA volunteers who not only prepare the riders for their tests, but also produce ponies and horses that are a testament to their efforts.
The event was sponsored by Cowan Architects of East Grinstead. David Cowan kindly came along to present the rosettes and trophies to the riders.
